Utilizing DonorsChoose to Bring Yoga 4 Classrooms to your Students

Did you know you can use DonorsChoose to bring Yoga 4 Classrooms training and resources to your students?

DonorsChoose is a nonprofit crowdfunding platform that allows public school educators (any educators— not just teachers!) to request materials, supplies, and professional learning experiences for their classrooms. Educators create a project describing what they need, and donors from across the country can contribute to help fund it.

Meet Heather Pogue, a kindergarten teacher in Norman, Oklahoma, who has had over 270 funded DonorsChoose projects totaling over $84,000!

How did you get started with DonorsChoose?

In 2008, I wanted a puppet theater for my Kindergarten classroom. I had already spent my PTA money for the year and was tired of spending additional money, so I came across DonorsChoose. The project was funded quickly and inspiration grew!

How can other educators get started?

1. Visit www.donorschoose.org and create an account
2. Make sure to upload a picture of yourself
3. Upload a classroom photo to personalize your page

Any tips on creating a request?

1. Dream big! Different donors are interested in supporting different items
2. Requests should be in the $100-$400 range to help with funding
3. Think about how you can group items together to help the project have a “theme” or carry a message for support?
4. My favorite things to use DonorsChoose for are basic supplies, books, and tools for social-emotional regulation (like Yoga 4 Classrooms!)
5. The Yoga 4 Classrooms Foundational Course and Classroom Essentials Kit is a perfect-sized project request!
